The Bowers Family gives back to RMHC-Madison

November 10th, 2015

Our son, Hudson was diagnosed with Vein of Galen Malformation in 2011, at just a couple months old. He has had numerous surgeries to help his body adjust with this malformation. During one of our first surgeries at American Family Children’s Hospital, we were introduced to the Ronald McDonald House. We live two hours from the hospital and without the Ronald McDonald House; we would not have that opportunity to stay together without a financial burden.

In 2011, we met a few awesome people that unfortunately have had health scares with their sons. They too have had the privilege of using the Ronald McDonald House (Oak Lawn, Illinois) to keep their families close. They started Team Chopper which is a fundraising group for the Ronald McDonald House in Madison, Wisconsin and Oak Lawn, Illinois and Advocate “Hope” Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois. I joined their team and we have been donating one-third of the money raised to the Ronald McDonald House in Madison. Our fundraising events throughout the year include a pancake breakfast, co-ed softball tournament, golf outing, live auction with a band and raffles, and spaghetti and lasagna dinners. One hundred percent of proceeds raised are donated. With the help of our very supportive communities of Forreston, German Valley, Mt. Carroll and Stockton, Illinois we have raised between $10,000 and almost $13,000 each year for the past few years.

We LOVE The Ronald McDonald House!
