After more than 16 years of providing a "home away from home" for the children and families that we serve, our House was looking more than a little "lived in" so in October 2009 we began a top-to-bottom renovation.
To date, all the bedrooms have received new dressers and night stands, new lighting, fresh paint, new carpeting, new blinds, new bedspreads and window valences, and an entire refurbishment of the bathrooms. The office area has been renovated with a new office added on, a new front counter and work space, as well as paint and carpeting.
Soon to come will be the kitchen with a new floor and different seating arrangements, an art/computer room off the dining room, and a total redo of the playroom as well as the living room. This includes new carpeting/flooring, paint and furniture. The lunch prep area will move from the conference room to a new area and the conference room will become just that – a room for classes and meetings. Two new big screen tv’s will be installed – one in the den and one in the living room.
While about half of the remodeling costs will come from our Building Fund, we are hoping to secure "sponsors" of our rooms to cover the remainder of our expenses. If you, your business, or your foundation would like to be a permanent part of our House, please contact Kevin Huddleston, Executive Director at (608) 232-4677 or khuddleston@rmhcmadison.org
