RMHC-Madison announces Kelly Ruppel as new Executive Director

July 22nd, 2021

Leadership focused on moving the mission forward to positively impact the health outcomes for more children and their families.

Kelly Ruppel officially began her role as the Executive Director for the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Madison (RMHC-Madison) on July 19, 2021.

“On behalf of the entire RMHC-Madison Board of Directors, I would like to congratulate and welcome Kelly,” said Nick Shutwell, President of RMHC-Madison Board of Directors. “We are excited to have Kelly lead the strategic vision for the organization’s long-term growth, impact, and mission delivery.

Kelly is joining RMHC-Madison from the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), where she served as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief of Staff to the Superintendent. Kelly brings 15 years of fundraising experience and leadership in operations, strategic budgeting, and accounting to her new role. She has spent the majority of her career in nonprofit and public education working directly with children and families in need.

“The mission of RMHC – to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families – speaks volumes for me,” said Kelly Ruppel. “No family should ever have to choose between their job and taking care of their children in a time of need. With 15 years of leadership in the public school system, I have seen the systemic barriers our families face every day and the lack of resources available for them to thrive. Together, we have the opportunity to impact families’ lives and work to increase access and opportunity.”

While Kelly was completing her master’s in business administration at the University of Chicago Booth, she volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in Hyde Park. Growing up in a small rural town, she has had close friends and family who have benefited from RMHC programs and services. Kelly is very excited to come full circle to serve families and children in the Madison area.
