34th Annual Golf Classic: A Record-Breaking Success
August 29th, 2023
Over 200 people donned their red shoes and took to Nakoma Golf Club on Sunday, August 6th for the Red Shoe Soirée. As the evening started, guests enjoyed specialty cocktails, mocktails and savories at the Cocktail Hour sponsored by Cosa Boutique. When the program began, Ronald McDonald himself gave a warm welcome to the crowd and a beautiful toast to our 30th Anniversary was made by Pam Reynolds of TASC. Then, we made magic happen. Guests had the opportunity to bid on a handful of live auction items including a shootaround with the UW Badger Men’s Basketball team. With Connor Essegian, Tyler Wahl, Steven Crowl and Max Klesmit on-hand to amp-up the crowd—the final bid came in at $15,000!
While we did have some basketball all-stars in the room, the brightest star that evening was the Saxton Family. Joining us on the one-year anniversary of their departure from RMHC-Madison after a tragic accident for their son, Parker, this was truly a full-circle moment for the beautiful family. Parker’s mother, Leigha Saxton, shared a resounding message that if you have the means, then “pay it forward.” It was clear that the family’s story and Leigha’s message moved each person in the room—minutes later a live appeal raised nearly $100,000.
At the conclusion of the program, the fun was just getting started. Guests took to the dance floor for Arches After Hours sponsored by Park Bank featuring music by Geoffrey from Celebrations Entertainment and late-night fare and dessert bar from our friends at Bucciferro Family McDonald’s, Nothing Bundt Cake, Driftless Chocolates, Bloom and Edible Arrangements.
Trading Red Shoes for Golf Shoes
The next day, under blue sunny skies, nearly 150 golfers took to the links at Nakoma Golf Club in support of RMHC-Madison. The golf course was lined with fun between Ronald McDonald greeting foursomes, the REVIVE Restoration Golf Ball Cannon and many delicious eats and treats on several holes. To round-out the day, golfers gathered at the 19th Hole sponsored by WPS Health Solutions for a short program and announcement of the winning foursome–Hausmann Group & NCG Hospitality.
A Record-breaking Success!
After an exciting two-day slate, we are pleased to share that this sold-out event raised nearly $325,000 for our guest families. Many thanks to the sponsors, golfers, guests, and volunteers who made the 34th Annual RMHC-Madison Golf Classic a standout success.
