As a House or Family Room Volunteer at RMHC-Madison you make a direct impact on children and families in their moment of greatest need. Volunteers help create a warm and welcoming place by performing a variety of duties so families can focus on what matters most – their children who need them.
House Volunteer
Our House is located at 2716 Marshall Ct. Madison, WI. Shifts are 3 hours long and run everyday from 9am to 9pm, but can be flexible. For questions or more information reach out to Sophia at [email protected].
Responsibilities include:
- Welcoming guests and answering their questions
- Organizing or sorting donated items
- Completing cleaning and organization tasks
- Cleaning and organizing common spaces and kitchens
- Restocking food around the House
Due to the nature of our organization, House volunteers must:
- Be 14 years of age or older
- Complete volunteer orientation and training
- Be able to commit to volunteering for at least one year or two academic semesters
Volunteers can also help with:
- Front desk support if desired (check-ins and check-outs, answering phone calls, etc.)
- Van driving (provide rides to families, pick-up donations, or grocery shop for the House)
Family Room Volunteer
Family Room Volunteers are officially volunteers of SSM St. Mary’s Hospital, where our Family Room is located. They will therefore go through the hospital’s application and onboarding process, and will abide by hospital volunteering rules. Responsibilities include:
- Greet guest families and visitors
- Supplemental front desk support as needed
- Organizing or sorting files and donated items
- Completing cleaning and organization tasks
- Resetting family rooms
Due to the nature of our organization, House volunteers must:
- Be 14 years of age or older
- Complete volunteer orientation and training
- Be able to commit to volunteering for at least one year or two academic semesters
