Fitness Room for Families

December 14th, 2023 | News

Most of our waistbands feel a little tighter after overindulging during the holidays, which is why getting fit tops so many resolution lists. Yet when your child faces a medical crisis, it’s helpful for parents to stay both mentally and physically strong as they battle the illness. The Fitness Room helps them do both.

While this room was developed during the recent expansion, it was also one of the first areas to be shuttered during the pandemic, and never fully equipped.

Dr. Jamie Limjoco, is the founding medical director of the Level IV NICU center at American Family Children’s Hospital and was peripherally involved with the campaign. While touring the space again last year, she and her husband Philip (pictured above) – both fitness enthusiasts – knew the importance of this space for families. They volunteered to finish the fitness room and spent hours securing in-kind donations from local businesses to see it through. What a gift to celebrate our 30th Anniversary!

We appreciate the generous contributions from:

  • Jamie Limjoco & Philip Musgrave for their vision, time and donation of yoga equipment
  • James Eisele with SurfaceCo who donated the flooring and installation
  • Tyler Danen with Fitbench who donated the workout bench
  • Assault Fitness who donated the rowing machine and exercise bicycle
  • Brunke Glass who donated the mirrors

This newly renovated space truly encourages family health and wellness, so that parents can stay strong for their children. The facility is free to use for all guests.
