A Cause to be Passionate About

Success of the 34th Annual RMHC-Madison Golf Classic is made possible by the incredible generosity of committed community partners. Leading that charge are presenting sponsors, M3 Insurance and Delta Dental of Wisconsin.

When new leadership was needed for the Golf Classic in 2012, M3 stepped up, with Delta Dental coming on-board several years ago. While these organizations support monetarily, they also bring us truly passionate individuals who have dedicated nearly a decade to serve our families.

Sean LaBorde, president of M3 Insurance, was an RMHC-Madison board member and chaired the golf outing the first several years. Since then, M3 partners Mary Basel and Jerry Brown, along with Steve LeRoy, senior sales executive at Delta Dental have continued to lead as pivotal members of the committee. Their leadership, dedication, and love for RMHC helped raise more than $120,000 annually.

During the pandemic, the golf committee added new members like Brian and Megan Flad and Val Hartjes from Park Bank. The addition of the Red Shoe Soiree elevated this wildly popular and growing event, raising nearly $325,000 this summer. With RMHC-Madison programs bursting at the seams and inflation driving expenses skyward, this dedication comes at just the right moment.

As we do in Heartline Spotlights, we ask “why do you serve RMHC-Madison?” This month, Sean LaBorde shares why he continues to believe this mission is a cause to be passionate about.

“Organizations like RMHC are instrumental to healthcare – taking care of the families of sick children so that the focus can be on being present and nurturing during their greatest time of need.  As a father of three, this resonates deeply with me.  It’s an honor to support RMHC with both financial and time resources, and it’s not just me. A major part of M3’s culture is to give graciously back to our communities, not only by gifting through the M3 Foundation but also by individual M3ers using their Volunteer Time Off hours to provide hands-on support to RMHC. ”
