The Wegner Family

July 26th, 2023 | News | Our Families

Baby Emmersyn was born this past April at 23 weeks. Weighing in at 1 lb. 9 oz.—small, but so incredibly strong.

The Wegner family arrived in Madison after a four-hour trip, and they were immediately referred to RMHC by hospital staff. Since their very first day here, the Wegner Family, Shelby, Kenny and Hudson (4), have had a place to call home in the Ronald McDonald House.

Like other families that stay at the House, the family was so surprised of everything it had to offer outside of a comfortable room to sleep in. Shelby shared, “There is so much food available and people volunteer to make meals, so families have a hot meal to eat after being at the hospital for most of the day.”

The family has truly valued these warm meals during their stay and decided they wanted to give back. In early August, Shelby and Kenny will be joined by members of their extended family to cook a meal together to share with families staying at the House.

While Emmersyn will likely remain in the hospital at least through mid-August, Mom shared that Emmersyn’s oxygen needs are improving  and medical staff is so impressed by the progress she is making. She now weighs 6 lbs. 6 oz. and her strength is as fierce as ever.
